Barcelona and Argentina forward Lionel Messi has won the Men’s Ballon d’Or for a sixth time.
Messi scooped up his sixth Ballon d’Or trophy, finally surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo on five.

“I would like to thank all of the journalists who voted for me and wanted me to have this prize,” said Messi after picking up the award in Paris on Monday night alongside his two sons and wife.

The Argentine star was presented with the award 2019 this Monday by the French magazine France Football for a record breaking sixth time, another indication that the Barça striker continues to demonstrate that he is the best player of all time. Messi won his first Ballon d’Or 10 years ago in 2009 and since then he has gone on to take the award in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015.
