Mr Olatunde Busari, SAN, is a graduate of the University of Ife where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science (BSc). He also obtained a bachelor’s degree (LLB) in Law from the University of Ibadan and a master’s degree (LLM) in Law from the University of Lagos. He was called to the Nigerian Bar.
In 1993 he established the firm of Akinwunmi & Busari as a founding partner. Mr Busari is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the International Bar Association (IBA), the Pan African Law Union (PALU), the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN), Insol International, the Intellectual Property Law Association of Nigeria (IPLAN), the Negotiation and Conflict Management Group (NCMG), and the National Committee on the Reform and Harmonisation of Arbitration and ADR Laws in Nigeria. He is also a fellow (FCIArb) and first vice chairman of the Nigeria Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK; a fellow and past president of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN); and a CEDR-Accredited Mediator. Mr Busari was elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2014.
He is a practising solicitor and advocate and also a domestic and international arbitrator. He has acted as counsel, mediator and arbitrator in various proceedings involving disputes in the oil and gas, maritime, aviation, telecommunications, construction, insurance, corporate finance, project finance and banking sectors. He is a listed arbitrator with the Lagos Multi-Door Courthouse, the Nigerian Communication Commission Arbitration Scheme, the Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration in Lagos and the Kigali International Arbitration Centre in Rwanda. He is also a designated representative of Nigeria on the Arbitration Panel of the ICSID (International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes) 2016 – 2022.
