He is a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing the Akankpa-Biase Federal Constituency of Cross River State, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

EDUCATION: He attended St Louis Primary School Kano, Federal Government College, Kano, Hope Waddel School, University of Calabar, where he obtained Bachelors of Science Degree (B.Sc) in Banking and Finance and Cross River State College of Education.

CAREER AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES: Daniel Effiong was the Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State between the year 1999 and 2002. Between the years 2008 and 2010, he was the Director General, Cross River State Electricity Agency.

Daniel Effiong was later elected into the Federal House of Representatives, where he represents the Akankpa-Biase Federal Constituency of Cross River State, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His legislative interests border on autonomy of ties of government, transportation, public accounts & expenditure, building, etc. He targets to achieve a strong independence of the three arms of government especially the legislative.
