Geographical Distribution Of Farm Animals In Nigeria
In Nigeria, the distribution of farm animals are not found in equal number. This is as a result of climatic conditions, customs and religious beliefs of the habitats of that particular region, the type of vegetation and topography of area. Therefore, not all farm animals are reared all over the country.
Major cattle concentrated regions
sokoto, kebbi, Kano, jigawa, Katsina, Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, kaduna and cross river states. These regions also have sheep and goats in abundance.
Goats and sheep concentrated regions
All the regions where cattle are found also have goats and sheep. Other regions include; Enugu, Kwara, Oyo Osun Anambra and Enugu states.
Pigs concentrated regions
All the southern states of Nigeria.
Poultry concentrated regions
All major towns in Nigeria.
Camel,donkey and horse concentrated regions
Sokoto, kebbi, katsina, Kano, jigawa, Bauchi, and Borno States.
Fish concentrated regions
All states with water bodies, but the major regions are; Delta, Ondo, Rivers, Cross River, Borno state and other states close to the big Rivers in Nigeria.
