The Igbo language is the first and only language officially spoken in Abia state.
Abia is a state in the south eastern part of Nigeria. The capital is Umuahia and the major commercial city is Aba, which was formerly a British colonial government outpost in the region. Abia state was created in 1991 out of Imo State. It is one of the constituent states of the Niger Delta.
As of 2018, Abia was rated as the 5th most industrialized state in Nigeria and the 9th most developed state in human development, along side being rated as the 6th most developed state in Nigeria
